he beginning of the world Castus was lost to the myths and legends of long ago. All was lost after the outsiders from a different realm came to this world. It is told that the Children of the Light, who are called Ashu, warred against the Denizens of Darkness, who are called the Mel-Kree, for untold ages. During that time, a hole was opened in the walls between the realms. The Mel-kree sent their mightiest warriors through the new world to spread in their brand of darkness. In an effort to stop them, the Ashu sent warriors after them. The effects of the Mel-kree and the Ashu passing though the realms caused a powerful backlash of magical power which destroyed most of both armies. The magic sealed the hole and the effects are still visible and in flux to this day. Some believe that the war is still going and that other holes to this world might open at any time. The survivors of the armies began to fight for this new world. The Mel-kree started a dark ritual that would turn life into something dark and corrupt. Sensing this, the Ashu began using the magical essences of their fallen brothers to counter the effects. The blast wave forced the Mel-kree into a death like sleep and caused the Ashu's physical form to shatter. The blast passed over the whole world causing many changes planet. Various animals began to talk and change. Others started to build, hunt, and fight. These new races thrived while the Mel-kree slept and the Ashu remained formless. As the Mel-kree began to wake after many ages had passed they saw what took hold and saw opportunity. As the Ashu gathered power over the ages to bring themselves a form they saw the life and knew it needed protecting.
It is in this time that many adventurers began to roam the lands...
